Eating Disorder Recovery Coaching

Practical, compassionate support for the in-between moments of recovery.

Eating disorder recovery isn’t linear — and it doesn’t just happen during therapy or counseling sessions. At EmbodyED NW, our coaching services offer an added layer of support to help clients stay grounded, motivated, and connected in their healing process.

Our Recovery Coaching is designed to complement clinical care or serve as a starting point for those exploring recovery for the first time. It’s practical, flexible, and focused on the “real life” aspects of healing from disordered eating and body shame.

Is Coaching For You?

We support:

  • Individuals transitioning out of higher levels of care (IOP, PHP)

  • Clients in recovery maintenance needing ongoing encouragement

  • People new to healing who want structured, compassionate support

  • Clients who aren’t ready for therapy or dietitian care but want to take small steps toward healing

  • Teens and college students navigating recovery in school or dorm settings

  • Adults managing food and body challenges alongside careers, parenting, or caregiving

  • Neurodivergent individuals who benefit from extra structure or practical check-ins

  • LGBTQ+ individuals looking for affirming, nonjudgmental support

  • People in rural areas or without access to eating disorder–informed providers

  • Parents or caregivers seeking guidance (via Parent Coaching)

  • Individuals who may feel that the “typical” eating disorder treatment isn’t working for them or doesn’t resonate.

You do not need a diagnosis to receive support. Curiosity and a desire to heal are a wonderful place to begin.

FAQs

  • Therapy is a clinical service provided by a licensed mental health professional. It focuses on processing emotions, addressing trauma, managing mental health diagnoses (like anxiety, depression, or PTSD), and helping clients explore the deeper “why” behind their thoughts and behaviors.

Recovery coaching, on the other hand, is non-clinical support that focuses on the “how” of recovery — things like building daily structure, setting and reaching small goals, navigating food and body image challenges in real time, and staying accountable to recovery values between sessions. It’s more present- and action-focused.

    At EmbodyED NW:

    • Therapy helps you process.

    • Coaching helps you practice.

Both can be powerful on their own — and even more effective when used together.

  • Unfortunately, insurance does not cover coaching at this time. We do offer sliding scale spots for clients with financial need and we will provide a superbill for clients who want them for tax advantage purposes.

  • We cannot issue refunds for services rendered. However, if you feel that working with us is no longer a good fit, we will issue a refund for the monthly prorated amount.

To cancel a session without penalty, we require 24 hours notice prior to the session. This also applies to any requests for refunds.

If a session is not cancelled within the 24 hour window, the coach will attempt to reschedule the session within a reasonable timeframe. At EmbodyED NW, we understand life can be unexpected; therefore, each client is granted one “pass” where they are able to reschedule a missed session (or a late cancellation) without penalty.

  • No diagnosis is required. Whether you're dealing with a long-standing eating disorder, disordered eating habits, body image concerns, or just feel overwhelmed around food — you’re welcome here. We meet you where you are, with no pressure and no labels unless they help you make sense of your experience.

  • When virtual support isn’t ideal, we offer in-person coaching sessions at our office in Camas, WA.

Coaches also provide in-person recovery support for exercise, meal-time, clothes shopping, and/or grocery shopping in the Clark County region.

  • Each client is given secure access to our messaging platform when they enroll with their coach. This allows for text/voice/video messaging between client and coach.

Messaging provides an important facet of recovery support but is not appropriate for crisis support. Coaches set boundaries as to what days/times they are available for messaging and typically respond within a few hours during normal business hours. Evening and weekend messages may receive a delayed response.

We understand that prompt response is ideal and we do everything we can to respond in real time to a client’s request for support.
